Fountain of Youth deals with the myths of feelings running throughout various societies, an enduring motif marking our forever limited residence on earth. Instead of the classical fountain of regenerative water, a jet shoots a continuous stream of healing mud. While signifying the indebtedness man has to the earth for his survival, the piece paradoxically expresses the vanity of the self to desire eternal life – to endure simply to endure.
Fireside is a manifold: crystallized as pure natural form made from artificial materials. The form is self-shaped, caused by the orbit of a point defining itself through the trickle of quick concrete in conjunction with sprayed water: shaping its own material property without the direct need of physical manipulation of the hand.
